Sneak Preview!

Seriously, some of the new Summer styles are so cute I have to pinch myself. I've stumbled onto a ton of great fabrics by Alexander Henry that I adore and that begged me to use them, and now, voila! New summer sundresses for little girls!

Introducing the Clementine dress in Marias. This little scoop-neck number has an extra-full gathered skirt and double buttons on both shoulders. Hitting just below the knee, it's perfect for playtime and for school, and is slightly oversized, making it great in the spring with a tee, all summer on its own, and then moving into fall layered over a long sleeve shirt and pants. Mr. Pretty Jane was a little confused when I stood and admired this for a full 30 minutes after the sample was done, but I can't get over how very much I LOVE this fabric and the bright red contrast with teeny little orange flower buttons. What a dream of a dress!

And here's Lucy, a wrap apron dress in a sweet but substantial blue cotton print. What I like most about this style is the flexibility of the wrap dress: it covers everything, but it's not stuffy; it has some snap to it, but not so much that your mother-in-law wonders what her son sees in you; and it's pretty enough that mom and daughter both love the way it looks and feels on. Lined bodice and pleated skirt with hem and neckline detailing.

The Maisie returns for summer! This style, with puffed sleeves, was one of our hottest for Spring 2007, and it's back in a new print and NO sleeves for summer! Shown here in On The Spot Pink, the Maisie still has its signature Peter Pan collar and gathered skirt, but has gone sleeveless to meet the heat. This is such a great dress to go from playdate to dinner with the grandparents--simple, clean lines that look great (and giant dots to hide any dinner spills!).

Last sneak preview: the Seville Beach Overall, easily the most popular style we've put out there. I'm crazy about this outfit, I gotta be honest, for one simple reason: the jumper is attached to the overall beneath, making this the simplest, quickest dressing job you could hope to have. The original vision for this overall was to create that perfect after-the-beach outfit that would allow the family to go from frolicking in the sand to a decent dinner with a minimum of annoyance--strip off that wet bathing suit, toss on the overall, and she looks dressed and ready to go, with no lost playtime in the process. For summer, it's in a linen blend, which makes it easier to care for, gives it fewer wrinkles, and keeps it looking fresh all day. Turquoise jumper over crinkle khaki overalls, with coconut buttons.

OK, there you go! You're the first to see these new styles, which all debut Saturday at 10 a.m. at the Beehive on Peachtree. Check out the details and see you then!

(By the way, there will be lots of new boys' styles, too, tucked away in Pretty Jane's boutique on Saturday. If you're looking for the perfect summer bowling shirt or cargo beach khakis for your little man this summer, don't feel left out--Pretty Jane's been designing for him, too!)
